As immigration rallies erupt in Rome and the tensions between immigrants and Italians grow by the day, I want to give you a bit of food for thought. No, the goal of this forum is not to insight debate. I have known many immigrants to Italy so I do tend to have an understanding of both sides of the situation. However, Italy is now, and has always been, a country of immigrants. Consider: the entire history of the Italian peninsula is the story of other civilizations coming and going. Sicily is perhaps the greatest example of Mediterranean mecca. The island has, with very little exception, always been ruled by an outside source. So while Rome and the Northern League battle immigration on the mainland, take to look into the history of Sicily. Take a positive spin on how immigrants of the past have shaped the amazing anchor of the Italian nation. If you want even more information send me a message and I can talk to you about the rich history of this phenomenal state, La Sicilia.
