With record-breaking snowfall bearing down outside of Rome let us take a trip to a seaside town for a bit of relief...Cefalu. Cefalu is not just your average Italian beach town. Lying on the northern coast of Sicily between Palermo and Messina, Cefalu is built on Greek foundation with a myriad of roots. A town known by Cicero and Pliny, Cefalu went through its historical phases including Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Norman, and eventually, "Italian." However, all these peoples have left their stamp of Cefalu through incredible archeology, mosaics, art, and literary works. In addition to the incredible beach visit the Romanesque Cathedral and the ancient Doric temples. Oh and wondering what to eat??? Go for the seafood carpaccio and you can't go wrong. Enjoy la spiaggia della sicilia!
